Hardware Installation

In most installations, the Easy Fit Smart Lock can be mounted using the pre-installed Clamp A without the need for any additional spacers or accessories.

6.1 Before Installation

  1. Install the Heimgard Door App.
  2. Enable Bluetooth on your smartphone.
  3. Ensure the door is unlocked and open.
  4. Verify lock compatibility.

6.2 Select the correct mounting components

This section explains how to select the correct mounting components for your installation. While every installation requires a mounting plate and a thumbturn clamp, some installations may also require optional components to ensure a secure fit and reliable operation.

Additional components may be required if:

  • The existing door lock plate or escutcheon creates a gap between the mounting plate and the door.
  • The thumbturn or key protrudes too far from the door and additional clearance is required.
  • The thumbturn stem requires additional grip for a secure fit.

If the Smart Lock sits securely, the thumbturn or key is firmly engaged, and the lock operates smoothly, you can proceed with the installation without using any optional spacers.

Before installing the Easy Fit Smart Lock, take a moment to identify the mounting components that best fit your existing door lock. Selecting the correct combination of mounting plate, clamp, spacer and rubber insert ensures smooth operation and reliable performance.

Mounting Plate

Easy Fit mounting plate
Mounting plate

The mounting plate is secured to your door and provides the base for attaching the Smart Lock.

Ensure the mounting plate is centred correctly before securing it in place. Incorrect alignment may affect the lock's operation and calibration.

Selecting the Correct Clamp

The two supplied thumbturn clamps
Clamp A (24 mm) and Clamp B (32 mm)

The Easy Fit Smart Lock includes two thumbturn clamps to accommodate different thumbturn designs and stem lengths.

  • Clamp A (24 mm) is pre-installed in the Smart Lock and is suitable for most installations.
  • Clamp B (32 mm) is included in the box and should be used when the existing thumbturn stem requires a longer clamp.

If Clamp A does not fully engage the thumbturn or cannot securely hold it, replace it with Clamp B.

After selecting the appropriate clamp, verify that:

  • The thumbturn is held firmly.
  • The clamp fully engages the thumbturn stem.
  • The thumbturn rotates freely without binding.
  • There is minimal side-to-side movement.

If the thumbturn stem is too narrow to fit securely in either clamp, install the rubber insert before mounting the lock.

Using the Rubber Insert

Rubber insert for the thumbturn clamp
Use the insert only when additional grip is needed

The rubber insert is designed for thumbturn stems that are narrower than the clamp opening.

Install the rubber insert inside the selected clamp before mounting the Smart Lock.

The insert should be used whenever additional grip is needed to eliminate movement between the thumbturn and the clamp.

When the Smart Lock is installed over a key cylinder, Heimgard also recommends using the rubber insert whenever possible. This provides a more secure grip on the key head and helps ensure reliable operation.

Do not force the rubber insert into the clamp if the thumbturn or key already fits securely without it.

Selecting the Correct Mounting Spacer

3 mm mounting spacer10 mm mounting spacer20 mm mounting spacer
Choose the thinnest combination that allows the mounting plate to sit securely.

The Easy Fit Smart Lock includes two 3 mm and one 10 mm spacers that are installed behind the mounting plate.

Use a spacer whenever there is a gap between the mounting plate and the door surface or escutcheon. The spacer fills this gap, allowing the mounting plate to sit firmly and level before the Smart Lock is installed.

Select the combination of spacers that provides the best fit. The supplied spacers can be stacked using the included adhesive pads to achieve additional thickness. For example:

  • 3 mm spacer
  • 10 mm spacer
  • Two 3 mm spacers + one 10 mm spacer (approximately 17 mm total thickness, including the adhesive pads)

Choose the thinnest spacer combination that allows the mounting plate to:

  • Sit flush against the door lock plate or escutcheon.
  • Be securely fastened without rocking or bending.
  • Remain level and properly aligned.

Once the mounting plate is securely installed, attach the Smart Lock and verify that the thumbturn rotates freely without resistance.

Using the Lock Body Spacer (Riser)

Lock Body Spacers positioned between the mounting plate and Smart Lock
The spacers raise the Smart Lock body away from the mounting plate

The Lock Body Spacer is used when the existing thumbturn or a key left in the cylinder protrudes too far from the door, preventing the Smart Lock body from sitting flush against the mounting plate.

Installed between the mounting plate and the Smart Lock body, the spacer acts as a riser, increasing the distance between them and providing additional clearance for taller thumbturns or keys.

Use the Lock Body Spacer if:

  • The Smart Lock body cannot sit flush against the mounting plate because the thumbturn or key is too tall.
  • The selected clamp cannot fully engage the thumbturn or key.
  • Additional height is required for the Smart Lock to operate correctly.

Installing the Lock Body Spacer

  1. Position one Lock Body Spacer on each side of the mounting plate, aligning the spacer holes with the mounting plate screw holes.
  2. Using the longer screws supplied in the accessory bag, secure both spacers to the mounting plate. Tighten the screws until the spacers are firmly attached.
  3. Position the Smart Lock body over the two installed spacers, aligning the screw holes on the lock body with the threaded holes in the spacers.
  4. Secure the Smart Lock body to the spacers using the appropriate screws and tighten both sides evenly.

The Lock Body Spacer increases the distance between the mounting plate and the Smart Lock body, allowing the selected clamp to fully engage taller thumbturns or keys while ensuring the Smart Lock sits securely and operates correctly.

After installation, verify that:

  • The Smart Lock body is firmly secured.
  • The selected clamp fully engages the thumbturn or key.
  • The thumbturn or key rotates freely without binding.
  • The Smart Lock sits level and does not rock or move during operation.

Final Fit Check

Before tightening the mounting screws, confirm that:

  • The lock body is correctly aligned.
  • The thumbturn turns smoothly by hand.
  • The lock fully locks and unlocks the door.
  • There is no excessive resistance or rubbing.
  • The original key can still be used normally, if applicable.

Only tighten the mounting screws once the Smart Lock operates smoothly during manual testing.

11.6 Force Mode

Force Mode increases the motor torque available during lock operation.

Enable Force Mode if your door lock requires additional force to complete locking or unlocking.

Force Mode is typically recommended only when the lock struggles to complete its movement during normal operation.

11.7 Detect End Positions Every Time

When enabled, the Smart Lock determines the locked and unlocked end positions during every lock and unlock operation, rather than relying solely on the calibrated position learned during setup.

This setting may be useful when using a key from the inside of the door, as manually turning the key can change the lock's internal position and cause the Smart Lock to lose track of its calibrated position.

Enable this setting if you notice that the Smart Lock occasionally reports an incorrect lock position or does not complete the locking or unlocking movement after the key has been used manually.

11.8 Reverse

If the lock status displayed in the app does not match the actual lock position, use Reverse. This setting swaps the lock and unlock directions without requiring the Smart Lock to be reinstalled.

11.9 Reset to Defaults

Reset to Defaults restores the Lock Settings to their factory default values.

After selecting Reset to Defaults, remember to select Save Settings to apply the changes.

This action does not factory reset the lock.

12

Keypad Settings

The Keypad Settings menu allows you to customise how your Heimgard Keypad operates.

Save Settings after making changes.
Save Settings after making changes.

To access the Keypad Settings, open:

Doors > [Door] > Keypad

After making any changes, select Save Settings to apply the new configuration.

12.1 Lock PIN Required

When Lock PIN Required is enabled, users must enter a valid PIN code before pressing the Lock symbol to lock the door. When disabled, the door can be locked by simply pressing the Lock symbol on the keypad.

This setting provides an additional level of protection against unauthorised locking from the outside.

12.2 Incorrect PIN Protection

Incorrect PIN Protection helps protect your Smart Lock against unauthorized access attempts by temporarily disabling the keypad after repeated incorrect PIN entries.

When enabled:

If 5 consecutive incorrect PIN codes are entered within 30 minutes, the keypad will be locked for 5 minutes.

If 5 additional consecutive incorrect PIN codes are entered during the initial lockout period, the lockout will be extended to 15 minutes.

During the lockout period, valid PIN codes cannot be entered until the timeout has expired.

12.3 Key Sound Volume

Adjust the keypad sound level to suit your environment.

Available options are:

  • Mute
  • Low
  • Medium
  • High

12.4 Reset to Defaults

Reset to Defaults restores all keypad settings to their factory default values.

After selecting Reset to Defaults, remember to select Save Settings to apply the changes.
