Check every component before installation.
Compatibility checklist
Confirm that the door and lock case are suitable.
Confirm that the Smart Lock Fingerprint is suitable for your door before removing the existing hardware.
Door thickness: compatible with door leaves from 40-94 mm.
Strike plate: compare the supplied strike plate with the existing one and confirm that the dimensions are suitable.
Mortise lock: the supplied mortise lock follows the SS 817383 standard.
Single-point locks: install the supplied mortise lock and strike plate.
Multipoint locks: keep the existing mortise lock and strike plate, then enable the multipoint setting after installation.
Door handing: supports left- and right-hinged doors that open inward or outward.
Before you install
A few checks prevent accidental lockout during installation.
Read the complete installation procedure before starting.
Confirm the door opens and closes smoothly and that the existing locking points move freely.
Keep all small parts and batteries away from children.
Do not use a power screwdriver when fastening the interior mounting bracket.
After installation, test PIN, fingerprint, Key Tag, handle, and emergency-key operation before closing the door.
Mount the Smart Lock
Install the strike plate, mortise lock, exterior unit, and interior unit.
Install the strike plate, mortise lock, exterior unit, and interior unit in the order shown below.
Strike Plate
For a single-point installation, use the supplied strike plate. For a multipoint installation, keep the existing strike plate.
Remove the existing strike plate from the door frame.
Insert the supplied strike plate into the opening.
Confirm that the gap between the strike plate and mortise lock is no more than 2 mm.
If necessary, fit the supplied strike plate adapter behind the strike plate, then tighten the screws.
Mortise Lock
For a single-point installation, replace the existing mortise lock with the supplied SS 817383 mortise lock. For a multipoint installation, keep the existing mortise lock.
Remove the existing door hardware and mortise lock.
Remove the four screws from the front plate of the supplied mortise lock.
Turn the latch bolt and auxiliary latch to suit the door direction.
Reattach the front plate.
Set the spindle cylinder marking to L for a left-hinged door or R for a right-hinged door.
Insert the mortise lock into the door leaf and secure it with suitable screws.
Adjust the handle direction
Remove the handle mounting screw from the rear of both the exterior and interior units.
Lift and rotate each handle to the required direction.
Refit and tighten each handle mounting screw by hand.
Set the spindle-cylinder reference mark to L or R to match the hinge side.
Exterior part
Choose the spindle that matches the door thickness and press it into the exterior unit until the retaining pin locks.
If the spindle is incorrect, use the supplied release tool to remove it and select another length.
Attach the exterior rubber gasket to the back of the exterior unit.
Pass the cable through the upper door opening and the square spindle through the lower opening.
Hold the exterior unit straight and flush against the outside of the door.
Multipoint installations
A multipoint lock secures the door at several points along its edge. Keep the existing multipoint mortise lock and strike plate, then use the method that matches your cylinder position.
Oval cylinder above the handle
Remove the existing oval cylinder above the handle.
Pass the cable through the former cylinder opening and the square spindle through the handle opening. If the cable connector will not pass, carefully enlarge the upper opening with a 14 mm drill bit.
Euro-profile cylinder below the handle
Keep the cylinder in place. Centre the mounting bracket over the handle-spindle opening and mark the cable and mounting holes.
Drill the required holes halfway from each side until they meet. This reduces splintering.
Route the cable through the upper opening, the mounting screws through the four smaller holes, and the square spindle through the central handle opening.
Interior part
Attach the interior rubber gasket to the back of the mounting bracket.
Position the bracket correctly and secure it to the exterior unit with the four appropriate machine screws.
Use both upper holes and two lower holes that align correctly with the lock case and existing door openings.
Allow at least 5 mm of screw engagement. Shorten screws carefully if they prevent the bracket from tightening against the door.
Connect the exterior cable to the interior unit. The connector fits in one direction only.
Guide surplus cable toward the mortise lock and slide the interior unit fully onto the spindle without pinching the gasket.
Remove the battery cover and secure the interior unit with the three small screws.
Insert three AA 1.5 V alkaline batteries according to the polarity markings.
Fit the rubber plug and battery cover.
Installation adjustments
Fine-tune the installation for smooth mechanical operation.
If the strike-plate gap is more than 2 mm, loosen the strike plate, slide the adapter behind it, and retighten.
If the lock and strike plate do not meet squarely, adjust the door leaf or hinges according to the door manufacturer's instructions.
If a handle binds, loosen the mounting hardware, align both units, and tighten evenly by hand.
For a multipoint lock, confirm that all locking points move freely before enabling the multipoint setting.
Checklist before closing the door
Complete these checks before closing the door for the first time.
Turn the interior handle. It should move freely and retract the latch bolt.
Press the small trigger on the mortise lock. The hook bolt should extend.
Turn the interior handle fully to retract the hook bolt and latch bolt.
Insert an emergency key into the exterior handle and turn it 90 degrees. Confirm that the exterior handle operates the lock.
Enter the default Master PIN [1234] and press [#]. Confirm the keypad flashes green and the exterior handle engages.
Enroll and test a fingerprint before relying on fingerprint access.
Present a registered Key Tag and confirm the exterior handle engages.
Only after these checks, close the door and confirm that the hook bolt and any multipoint locking points operate correctly.
